Academic Program Review: Policies and Procedures
Progress Review
- Three years prior to the next scheduled program review, academic programs will review the past visiting team recommendations and the departmental response to the previous review (see below). Academic programs will then provide an electronic memo regarding progress to the Dean and the associate provost in charge of program review.
Program Review Mid-cycle Summary
This chart provides guidance regarding the program review mid-cycle summary, which should occur no later than three years prior to the next scheduled program review. The goal of the summary is to review the progress in the program based on the most recent visiting team findings and the resulting actions. Programs should provide the Dean and the Executive Vice President and Provost (EVPP) Office with a brief (less than two page) electronic memo, which summarizes the visiting team findings and resulting program action plan, describes implementation actions, and identifies future actions. The EVPP Office should send the program chair and the Dean a timely response to the memo.
The table below provides areas to consider in the summary memo.
| Recommendation or Finding | Action Taken | Future Action |
|---|---|---|
| Describe the recommendation for change that resulted from the self-study, external review, and department response. | Describe the actions taken to implement the recommendation. If none, why? | Describe additional actions planned to implement the recommendation. |
